Dear participants:
On behalf of the Organizing Committee and the Aquatic Ecosystem Health & Management Society (AEHMS), I am pleased to welcome you to the First International Symposium on Aquatic Ecosystem Health. As you will notice, the Committee has adopted a multi-disciplinary strategy in designing an extensive scientific program. An attempt has been made to develop the theme systematically and the invited papers have been chosen carefully to avoid information gaps and to maintain continuity. The program consists of invited keynote addresses, platform presentations and posters which hopefully will provide a holistic perspective of the aquatic ecosystem health. During the three and a half days of deliberations approximately 32 papers of twenty minute duration, 14 extended papers of forty minute duration, and 21 posters have been scheduled. Therefore, the total number of papers scheduled is equivalent to more than 80. The entire program consists of 12 sessions, and to provide the opportunity to attend and benefit from all the papers, no concurrent sessions are scheduled. Various sessions focus on the following themes:
- Ecosystem Health: concept & definition
- Ecosystem Health: trophic indicators, Parts A & B
- Technology for Ecosystem Health, Parts A, B & C

However, the page number for abstract location is given with the first author only and is indicated by an asterisk. If you have only the name of the second or subsequent author, use the program to locate the name of the first author, and then locate the abstract. The names of keynote and other invited speakers are indicated by an asterisk.
